Review: 4 out of 5 stars

Pros:
No clumping
Nice definition
Long lasting
No flaking
Good volume

Cons:
Doesn't exactly give dramatic length

BUXOM either works for you or it doesn't.
The main thing that sets it apart from standard mascara products is that the brush is larger and hourglass-shaped. Some can't seem to get used to it, but a lot of people now prefer the larger brush. The brush also doesn't pick up too much product, which is good since a little goes a long way!
The color is a nice, rich black. You only need one or two coats to achieve a good look. Any additional coats may cause it to start clumping, which is pretty reasonable. Overall, this mascara gives great volume without any dramatic length, which is perfect for those who want a more natural look.

Eyeliner: Pencil VS Liquid VS Gel

Eyeliners can truly give a nice touch to your face even if that's all you've applied to your face. However, for a make-up newbie the differences between different types of eyeliners can be confusing. It's possible to get similar looks no matter which type you use. The main difference between these three types are the texture, how long they last, and ease of application.

Pencil Eyeliner:
This is most likely the first kind of eyeliner you've ever used. It's often the type that's included in basic make-up sets. It's the best option for beginners who haven't developed a steady hand yet.
The texture of pencil eyeliner doesn't look very smooth, but you can achieve a smoother look if you color it in a bit more. For a smoky eye look it doesn't blend well, but with enough patience you can make it work
A good pencil eyeliner can last 8 hours or more but an average quality one only lasts a few hours.

Liquid Eyeliner:
If you have a steady hand, you should try out some liquid eyeliner. The texture looks smooth and clean. It's also richer in pigment compared to pencil eyeliners. A lot make-up junkies prefer liquid eyeliner for these reasons.
One downside is that the liquid can dry out if you don't use eyeliner that often. If you only apply eyeliner like once a month, you may be upset that the liquid in the container has dried up after a few months.

Gel Eyeliner:
When paired with a quality brush, gel eyeliner can be a versatile holy grail product. You can put as much or as little as you want. Go light or go dark; it's up to you. With a steady hand you can get clean lines.
Gel eyeliner does smudge easily, so a lot of people like to use it for smoky eye looks. On the flip side, a lot of people don't like it because it smudges easily.

Overall, all of these eyeliners can work well depending on the look you're going for. There are a lot of people who own all 3 types and use them for different things!

Make-Up Hacks That I Wish Someone Told Me About

Eyeliner
If you're like me and still don't have a steady hand, eyeliner can be pretty daunting. I was lucky enough to have make-up divas as friends and roommates who jumped at the chance to put my eyeliner on for me when we went out. In other words, I never really attempted to do it myself (lol).
Using a pencil is easier for people like me, but I like the look of liquid eyeliner. Solution? Outline the shape I want with pencil, and then "color" it in with the liquid eyeliner. For me it's like a win-win!

Lip liner
If you're not trying to do anything fancy (ombre lips and all those other trends) and you're just going for one simple color, apply your lip liner after the lipstick. I noticed that when I do my liner before the lipstick, I sometimes have to go back with the liner and make the colors blend a little more. If the lipstick is already there, it will blend seamlessly assuming you're lightly lining them to clean it up a bit.

Eyeliner as brow filler
I got this tip from my aforementioned friends. One time as I was touching up my eyebrows with a brow razor, my roommate scared me as a joke. She didn’t know that I was doing my brows and I ending up taking a chunk off one of them.
Basically, I almost cried.
She gave me a tip that until the hair grows back in, I can use my black eyeliner to fill in the patch (yes, my hair color is black). I didn’t simply color it in; I drew little lines that looked like hair. No one noticed the patch in my eyebrows so it was all good.

DIY Egg White Tissue Mask

This mask is probably one of the cheapest and most effective ways to clean your pores. As long you have an egg and some tissue, you can do this!

What you'll need:

  • A freshly washed face
  • An egg
  • Single ply tissue or toilet paper
  • A plastic fork
  • A bowl

Instructions:

  1. Extract the egg white from the egg. There any many methods of doing this, but I gently poke a small hole in the egg and pour the egg white out into the bowl.
  2. Take your fork and whisk the egg whites until they're bubbly/fluffy.
  3. One by one, take the pieces of tissue and saturate them with the egg white. Stick them onto your face until you have a full mask. Avoid the eye area including your under your eyes and your eyebrows.
  4. Leave the mask on your face for about 20 minutes. It should be completely dry and hard.
  5. Gently peel the mask off your face. You should be able to see the blackheads in the remnants of the mask.
  6. Wash (or rinse) the egg white residue off of your face.
  7. You're done!

5 Things I Stopped Doing To Get Clearer Skin

1) Drying my face with a towel
When I wash my face, I use a napkin to dry it. Towels used throughout the week collects bacteria, which is a something you need to avoid if you have acne-prone skin.

2) Popping pimples
This is something I wish I never learned from adults during my teenage years. When I experienced my very first breakout, my mother sat there and popped every single one of my pimples. She told me this is how it's supposed to be handled. Two years later my face still had pimples all over it as well as scars from previous pimples I had popped.
One day a teacher that I was close with told me to avoid popping my pimples and gave me basic skin care tips. During that time I wasn't even using facial products, just regular body soap and body lotion. My skin improved but even today I still have some scars.

3) Sleeping on the same pillowcase all week
I change my satin pillowcase every 2-3 days. Just like towels, pillowcases collect bacteria throughout the week. I sleep on my stomach, which means every night my face is in direct contact with my pillowcase for 6-8 hours. Sleeping on that same pillow case on all week can make you break out.

4) Touching my face so much
A lot of my acne used to be along my jawline. When I'm sitting at my desk I have the tendency to rest my head on my hands. It took quite a bit of effort to stop that habit but it paid off in the end. Most of the acne along my jawline disappeared.

5) Letting my phone make contact with my skin
When was the last time you wiped your phone down with an anti-bacterial wipe? Probably never. All that bacteria on your phone coming in contact with your skin is a recipe for breakouts.
When I need to talk on my smartphone, I prefer to have it on speaker or use headphones. If I need to talk on a landline phone, I'll only have the speaker part touch my ear, but I avoid having my face touch the rest of the phone.
If that's too much "work" for you then you can wipe your phones down every day with an anti-bacterial wipe.

Website: www.lavieve.com
Rating: 5 out of 5 stars

Pros:
Smells amazing
Long lasting moisture
Great quality
Small business

Cons:
Only available online/at their local shows

I discovered this lovely product at an art festival. It felt like you could smell the booth a mile away. The man at the booth said that the line of products were all handmade by him and his wife. I tried the cream and instantly fell in love! The cream can be used on both the face and body, but I like to use it on my hands and neck for the days I want to switch it up.
To me, this product is more like a perfume because the smell is pretty strong. If you've never smelled lavender before then you'll get very acquainted with it via this product. Besides the awesome scent, this cream is also very moisturizing and it will literally last the entire day. I'd definitely say this cream is just as good if not better than some of the mainstream ones sold in stores. There's also the added plus of supporting a small business. When my cream runs out, I'll definitely be making a another purchase!

How To Clean Your Pores - Facial Steam Treatment

Clogged pores can cause acne, skin infections, irritation, and embarrassment. Thankfully, cleaning your pores is very simple to do. For a deeper clean, try a facial steam treatment in the comfort of your own home.

What you will need:

  • A pot (or something you can put hot water in)
  • Water
  • A stove (or an electric kettle)
  • 2 large towels
  • Facial cleanser
  • A table to sit at
  • Paper towel or clean facial towel

Instructions:

  1. Bring a small pot or kettle of water to a boil
  2. Tie your hair back to ensure it won't be in the way for the steam treatment
  3. If you used a kettle, pour the water into a pot or heat-safe bowl.
  4. Place one of the towels on the table and put the bowl on top of the towel
  5. Sit down and lean forward so that your face is above the boiled water.
  6. Drape the second towel over your head to make a tent, trapping the steam from the water
  7. Remain in that position for about 15 minutes, or until the steam cools. The steam from the water will open your pores. If it becomes too hot you may move your face further away from the bowl.
  8. Go to the sink and wash your face with your facial cleanser. Make sure the sink water is warm.
  9. Rinse the cleanser off of your face with cold water. The cold water will help to close your pores again.
  10. Pat skin dry with a paper towel or a clean towel
